  • March 31, 2015 - The NRO’s Director’s Innovation Initiative Issues New Broad Agency Announcement
    The National Reconnaissance Office is interested in receiving research and development proposals for the Director’s Innovation Initiative (DII) Program focusing on the following areas: 1) High Bandwidth Quantum Secured Communications and 2) Aperture Synthesis. The Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) declares the NRO’s intent to competitively fund research and development for innovative technologies that meet the areas of interest set forth in the BAA. The BAA can be found on the DII Home Page, accessible through the NRO’s Acquisition Resource Center website located at

    Proposals are sought from U.S. domestic educational institutions, non-profit and not-for-profit organizations and private industry. Proposals may be considered from U.S. based organizations and industry that are foreign owned or controlled as long as 1) access to proscribed information is not necessary to perform the resultant contract, and 2) foreign ownership or control does not present an unacceptable security threat. Awards shall take the form of contracts only.
